Royal Victorian Aero Club - Recognition of prior learning and qualifications

Recognition of Prior Learning and Qualifications

The regulatory Authority for civil aviation licencing in Australia is the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).   CASA generally recognises the qualifications issued by many States who are signatories to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the legitimate experience of pilots gained in those States.   However, each application for recognition is decided individually by CASA.   RVAC can advise on the recognition of your qualifications.

You can convert an overseas licence to an Australian Licence by sitting a CASA examination in Australian air leglislation and procedures and passing a flight test.

If you are a short term visitor holding an overseas private or higher licence, CASA will generally issue a temporary private licence or a Certificate of Validation to enable a flying holiday in Australia.
