You will be required to undergo an Australian aviation medical examination prior to commencement of training. The examination may be taken at either of two levels.
These are:
Class 2: for issue of a Private Pilot Licence. This comprises a general physical examination.
Class 1: for issue of a Commercial or Air Transport Pilot Licence. This comprises a general physical examination, to a higher standard than for Class 2, plus a specialist opthamological and auditory examination.
These examinations are carried out by a panel of doctors selected by CASA either in Australia on your arrival, and RVAC will help you to arrange this, or in one of a number of overseas localities if this is convenient to you. A listing of local and overseas located Designated Aviation Medical Examiners (DAMEs) is located on the CASA website http://www.casa.gov.au/avmed/search.htm .
Note that, as an appropriate current CASA medical certificate is essential to your course, failure to obtain a certificate or suspension or cancellation of your certificate will lead to immediate cancellation of your enrolment.
