Royal Victorian Aero Club - Location

Location

Victoria’s capital city, Melbourne (often called “the garden city”) is positioned at the top of Port Phillip Bay in Australia’s south-east.   Founded in 1835 by John Batman and John Pascoe Fawkner, Melbourne has grown to become a thriving financial and business centre and second largest city in Australia.   It is renowned for its cultural and sporting events and many fine restaurants.   It is a cosmopolitan, multicultural city with its people originating from many parts of the world.

Moorabbin Airport

Moorabbin

Royal Victorian Aero Club is headquartered at Moorabbin Airport, a busy general aviation airfield some 25 kilometres south of the central business district (CBD).   Moorabbin has multiple sealed runways, a control tower and associated controlled airspace and is an ideal location in which to learn to fly, whether you are looking to a fully professional career or simply to fly for enjoyment.   RVAC has a range of aircraft available, from single engine trainers through to quite complex twin-engined aircraft, plus a flight simulator certified for instrument flight training.

Coldstream

In addition, RVAC also has flight training and charter operations at Coldstream, which complement the training environment of Moorabbin.

Coldstream, located some 44 kilometres to the north-east of the CBD in the beautiful Yarra Valley. It is typical of the many country airfields found dotted throughout Australia, with its single gravel strip and infrequent traffic. A lovely place to fly and to gain experience, particularly if the outback is your thing.
